Spiritual Development is part of the daily life at Stewart. Each morning a "Thought for the Day" is posted in the dining hall and campers meet for ten minutes after breakfast to discuss it. These sessions are led by the director and often a special guest will be there to share his conviction, hopes and aspirations with the boys.

Counselors are encouraged to have nightly sentence prayers or vespers in the cabins. .

Sunday morning all-faith Chapel services are held in the Green Cathedral on the Guadalupe. Seating is on rock benches built from rocks campers have brought through the years as offerings, and the rustic cedar cross, which hangs across the river on a lofty cypress branch, focuses attention on the Creator.

Chapel services are non-denominational and attended by all campers and staff.

Outstanding special guest speakers provide the message. The scripture, special music and Thought for the Day are given by the campers.

Sunday evenings may include all-camp vespers, cabin vespers, or divisional vespers.

 

 

Commitment

Camp Stewart's goal is to provide the very best camping experience possible for each and every boy. Stewart is a Christian-oriented, non-denominational private camp whose purpose is to offer wholesome fun and growth to boys 6-16 in a safe, protected environment.

Stewart strives to develop the total boy: to enhance and build self-confidence and greater feelings of self-worth, teach new skills, enhance old skills, teach goal setting, the making of lasting friendships, and provide exposure to persons from other geographical parts of the world, all in a spirit of fun.

Stewart seeks 'role model' counselors who are good mentors for growing and impressionable young men. They are carefully selected, screened thoroughly, and go through an extensive training orientation prior to camp.
